Digital Entrepreneurship: from Set-up to Domination

The SEO / search marketing sector is a highly competitive field. For newbies, it can be intimidating and can sometimes give you this feeling that you will not be able to cope up. However, rather than trying to be a master of everything, one way is to find a segment in the value chain. A niche where you can be good at. Master it. Own it. Dominate it.

This was the gist of what I shared at the PeepCon event organized by Glen Dimaandal. Fellow speakers Ben Francia, RJ David (OLX Philippines), and moderator Bingo Ventura shared their respective insights too.

Importance of blogs

What I learned from joining the SEO competition Ituloy AngSulong was the key to rankings were getting links from credible sources to your blog.

Of course, to earn that link you must have good content on your site that will make it comfortable for bloggers to link to.

The relationship built from that competition pave the way for me to start venturing into SEO projects with special emphasis on linking with bloggers.

I work with newbie to novice bloggers as they usually don’t get opportunities as much as they deserve to.

The longer I work with them, they also learned the importance of building a unique personal brand, improve skills, increase credibility, and get own clients.

SEO link building with bloggers is not sustainable

But as more parties get into blogger collaborations, for free or with a fee, eventually one will realize that this is not going to be sustainable.

Fees could hardly increase as there is continuous replenishment of supply – bloggers, virtual assistants, SEO professionals, agencies, etc.

Find your niche

In 2014, I had an online student who was interested in experimenting with digital marketing. As I don’t want to recommend the usual advertising approaches, the idea of involving bloggers was put forward.

Much to my surprise, the client liked it and this pave the way in shifting my old blog network to an online lead generation network.

This challenges the blogger to focus on creating content WORTH SHARING that can result to inquiries or lead generation.

Furthermore, success comes naturally to bloggers who are willing to commit time and effort in mastering online lead generation.

This reduces dependence on bloggers with ranking and all as experience shows, they are more reluctant on doing lead generation network due to their perceived stature.

From set-up to domination

In whatever niche you will focus yourself in, a lot of mistakes and failures will happen. Experience and learning from the mistakes of others is the best teacher.

So to SEO newbies reading this post, don’t lose heart when things are not going your way. There will be a lot of heartaches.

But eventually, you will find what your biggest strength is. Nurture it. Own it. Dominate it.
